Borovets Ski Resort
Borovets ski resort, the oldest and most famous Bulgarian mountain resort, is situated on the northern slopes of the Rila Mountain at an altitude of 1350 meters. The resort enjoys a breathtaking location huddled amongst age-old pine woods right at the foot of Mount Moussala (2925 m), the highest peak on the Balkans. Only 72 km away from Sofia and just 126 km away from Plovdiv, Borovets is easily accessible at all times of year. Check here for directions to Borovets.

Established at the end of the 19th century as a hunting place for the Bulgarian kings, Borovets has developed into a modern year round resort.

In winter 45 km of pistes and 20 km of cross county trails weave their way through the stunning scenery of the Rila mountains. Skiing and snowboarding is available for all levels and the added feature of several floodlit pistes allows late night fun on the snow.

In the summer Borovets is just as marvellous offering clean and fresh air, serene centuries-old pine forests, green

meadows sprinkled with fragrant flowers and herbs, blue lakes and majestic snow-capped peaks. For nature-lovers the resort is a favourite vacation spot and starting point of many hiking routes in the Rila Mountains.

And when the sun has gone down, the resort begins to pulse with the numerous lights of the restaurants, bars and nightlife that make Borovets such a fun place.
